Life and Living Skills

What is it?

Life and living skills is aimed at improving young people’s stability and social inclusion through building their confidence and capability to live independently. The program includes opportunities to engage in an individual or group workshop that offers tools and practical lessons on topics including:

  • Money management
  • Housing, Legal Rights and Responsibilities
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Employment and Study Skills
  • Daily Living Skills
  • Personal and Social Development

Young people can access support through Life and Livings Skills by attending the group program or through one-on-one coaching support.

Group Program

The Life and Living Skills group program occurs at various times throughout the year and generally for a period of 6-7 weeks. During this time, the program will run one day per week for approximately 2 hours and will be based in a fun and relaxed space within a local community centre. The program is run in small groups where you can build upon your independent living skills while meeting other young people and making new friends. Come and join our next group program where you’ll be supported to achieve your goals, connect with support services and access resources and opportunities. Food, games and prizes are all included!

Attendance to this group program will depend on when the program is next scheduled for and limited spots are available. If you’re interested to know upcoming dates or have any further questions, please contact Mario or 0403 113 316 or email mdsouza@moira.org.au.

One-on-one Coaching

One-on-one coaching provides individualised support to young people to build confidence and develop independent living skills. Support is usually provided over a period of 6 weeks, where you will be linked in with Your Journey’s Life and Living Skills Youth Worker who will meet with you on a weekly basis. Location and times of coaching can be flexible, including within the comfort of your own home, or at an alternate location within the local community. The support offered will be tailored to your personalised goals and the skills that you’ve identified that you would like to develop further.

For more information on one-on-one coaching, please contact Mario or 0403 113 316 or email mdsouza@moira.org.au.
