Family Reconciliation

What is it?

The Family Reconciliation Program supports young people to deepen their relationships with themselves as well as with significant others in their lives. Having a strong sense of self, values and boundaries is an important foundation to building relationships with others and connecting with the world.

Family Reconciliation counsellors are approachable and flexible. They focus on your individual goals and needs to ensure you feel heard, supported and understood. We understand that you’re the expert in your own life, and we’re here to walk alongside you in your journey. This support can be focused on you as an individual or it can involve others who you would like to develop or strengthen your relationship with, such as family, carers, chosen family, friends, partners or housemates.

This program provides the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with a skilled counsellor and mediator
  • Understand yourself and your relationships
  • Explore strategies to strengthen relationships, communication skills and conflict resolution
  • Create a stronger understanding of your emotions and coping strategies
  • Family reconciliation
  • Support overall wellbeing

How does it work?

Our friendly team will meet you in a place where you’re most comfortable, or we can chat through phone or video calls. Sessions can be run one-on-one or in a group - it’s your choice.

Is it for me?

Would you like an opportunity to talk through your identified support needs with a qualified and experienced youth counsellor? Are you aged between 16-25 years old and have links to Melbourne’s Southern Region?

Meet Ricardo

Ricardo

Ricardo has a Diploma in Counselling and is currently completing a Bachelor of Counselling. Ricardo is registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and has worked as a youth worker at MOIRA Your Journey for seven years. Prior to this, he worked as youth worker in a high school supporting students in building capacity, particularly through social skills.

Ricardo understands the importance of connection as it provides the fundamental building block for positive relationships. He believes that relationships plant us firmly in the social world and reduce the tendency to isolate. Ricardo has an organic and purposeful approach to counselling and will work with you to ensure you feel safe in the counselling space.

Meet Anna

Anna

Anna is a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and has a Master of Counselling. Anna is an approachable and insightful family practitioner with many years of experience in providing warm and effective therapeutic support to adolescents, adults, couples and families.

Anna does not believe in a “one size fits all” methodology and recognises that people’s life journeys and stories are very different. Through her ability to create a strong rapport and connection with young people and families she supports, Anna is able to empower them to identify and explore their concerns, and collaboratively develop strategies and tools to go about their lives with more skills and confidence.

"My experience with Your Journey has been so wonderful. The Family Reconciliation counsellors are amazing, they provide you with different techniques on how to add to your toolbox with what your already have in the box! They are super friendly and very easy to open up to. The support and advice they provide you with is easy going and isn’t hard to follow! I highly recommend them to anyone who’s going through a rough time and for those who like to express how they feel."
