Quality & Accreditation

image-quality-accrediation-01

The Department of Human Services is overseeing a process of Quality Accreditation under the Disability Act. This requires that all Disability Service Providers acquire accreditation through a number of approved auditors by the end of 2012.

As an organisation which prides itself on a commitment to constantly review its practices in the belief that it is always possible to find improvement, MOIRA is committed to not just the accreditation process and outcome but to the rationale behind it. We believe that Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) is a profound principle which underpins the developing and delivering of support for all our service users. We also believe that as the disability sector moves increasingly to individualised funding, service users will require and deserve some level of protection from potentially unscrupulous/unqualified providers. Quality Accreditation should provide service users with a level of comfort about the provider they are choosing to engage with.

In 2011, MOIRA engaged Synthesize Consultancy to advise and steer our accreditation process. Synthesize Consultancy have extensive experience in the disability sector broadly and in quality systems specifically. We believe that the journey to accreditation is one which will no doubt throw up some challenges; but at MOIRA we see challenges as opportunities to do better. The Quality Accreditation process may well be a major focus for us throughout 2012.

Quality service delivery, however, is a focus for us always!
