child care

Child care centres may provide care for children with disabilities up to 6 years. Family Day Care can provide respite care for children with disabilities up to the age of 14 years. Where support is required for a child with a disability, integration aides may be able to be provided. The Children’s Services Advisors can provide more detailed information about which service can best cater for children with disabilities and the possibility of personal support for a child. Some Local Councils also have a special needs worker who can assist in arranging Family Day Care. Inclusion Support Facilitators (ISFs) are specialist workers who have the experience and skills to work directly with eligible child care services to help them build their capacity to provide quality child care for all children, including children with additional needs. Please note that children will need to be registered with a child care service before the ISFs can be contacted.
