What is Southern Directions Youth Services?
Southern Directions Youth Services (SDYS) has been in existence since 1981 and is a youth support program of MOIRA. The program is funded through the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP). SDYS is a community service project which exists to provide caring, well managed programs that increase opportunities for homeless young people. SDYS promotes the rights and dignity of young people and aims to maximise the control which young people have over their lives.
What does SDYS provide?
• Transitional supported accommodation
• Provision of information and resources
• Case-work management
• Housing emergency funds
• Living skills development
• Assistance in securing & maintaining
• independent accommodation
• Assistance in securing & maintaining an income
• Specific needs based counseling services
• Employment & training options
Who can use the program?
SDYS supports young people between the ages of 15-25 years who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. SDYS supports young people in supported accommodation, private rental, emergency housing, private board, public housing, family home or with extended family.

Services are available in the following municipalities:
• City of Stonnington
• City of Glen Eira
• City of Kingston
• City of Bayside
Young people seeking support:
Must demonstrate willingness to utilise support from SDYS workers to achieve their goals. Need to be prepared to live with others in shared housing and respect the rights of other tenants. Require a commitment towards moving to independent accommodation.
