Because of our extensive and lengthy involvement in the area of disability support and respite in particular, MOIRA continues to provide assistance through a secondary consultative service referred from CCRCCSMR.
MOIRA also researches, co-ordinates and produces the highly valued Time for a Break booklet. This is a guide to respite care and recreation services for people with disabilities and their families in the Southern Metropolitan Region. Time for a Break is revised and reprinted annually and is available in hard copy and via the MOIRA website.
In 2008, MOIRA co-ordinated two Respite Expos on behalf of the Department of Human Services and services providers. Hosted in Caulfield and Narre Warren, the two Expos were highly successful. Numerous services providers grasped the opportunity to showcase their services and products and hundreds of people with disabilities and their carers attended the events. MOIRA will be bringing together two further Respite Expos in early 2009. |
