What is Interchange Southern?
Interchange is a community based, not-for-profit program providing support to families who have a child with a disability in Victoria. Interchange Southern services families who have a child aged between 0-18 years living in the southern suburbs of Melbourne.
The children and young people have a broad range of physical, intellectual or sensory disabilities.
Volunteers are carefully recruited and trained to care for children and young people as part of the Host program and Recreation programs.
Interchange aims to provide respite for families, and give children and young people opportunities to make new friends, develop self confidence and to have fun.
What programs do we offer?
Host Program:
The Host program matches a child with a disability to a volunteer host who has the child to stay on a regular basis, usually one day or one weekend a month.
Youth Groups:
Interchange has six youth groups for children and teenagers with disabilities and they meet on a regular basis to take part in recreational activities. These groups are led by Interchange staff and supported by volunteers.
